One thing about Oklahoma is that you never know what kind of weather you’re going to get. We got to Tulsa Tuesday and spent a few days with Paul’s mom. When we were planning our trip she had mentioned going to the Tulsa zoo maybe, but it would depend on the weather. Well, as I’m writing this blog post it’s currently 37 degrees, which may not seem too bad but we have been in California far too long so there was no way we’d make it at the zoo! Luckily Jenks opened an aquarium several years ago and it was an easy choice to make concerning what we’d do on Wednesday!
Xander absolutely LOVED it. This shouldn’t have surprised me, but it was so fun to see him signing all the animals as we walked around. He saw lots of fish of course, and also got to sign “frog” and “snake”. He also “hissed” like a snake which cracked me up! We went to Seaworld back in December and he liked it, but he liked this a lot more. It was also pretty empty so we were able to get up close to all the exhibits including the feeding times!!
My personal favorite was watching the sting rays. They have a touch pool and Xander was amazed with them, possibly because they were constantly swimming up the side of the pool so it was almost like they were trying to jump out of the water.
All in all it was a perfect day for us, and I’d definitely recommend going to the aquarium if you’re in the area–or any aquarium for that matter because there is tons to see and even more to learn if you don’t mind reading a little. Also, how often do you get the option of touching fishy animals like sting rays and starfish? That in itself would have made the trip for my little guy!
