As I’m sitting in the car with a very unhappy little boy, a dog with smelly breath, and a husband who patiently puts up with us all I realize just how blessed I am. The last few weeks I’ve been my normal hormonal pregnant self, and if you factor in the teething baby and yappy dog plus the cross country road trip which has brought out good but mostly bad in all of us you can understand why I’m pretty sure my husband is part saint because when I get to my breaking point he’s still calm and collected and has changed every dirty diaper along the way to top it off!
I should add in, that despite teething and having been in the car for nearly 11 hours Xander has only had ONE breakdown and it’s only happening because it’s nap time and he prefers to sleep in a bed over his carseat. (Can you really blame him?) Anyway, I decided to change up Tuesday Timeout this week and post photos of Xander with Paul, which is pretty fitting since the last week has him a little bit of a daddy’s boy! (He’s definitely still my sweet boy though!) I realized late last week just how much Paul helps me when he had to go back to San Diego for a few days to finish up the check out process on base. Of course I can handle the little guy by myself, but its so much easier when there are two of us to chase him and change his diapers, etc. And I think Xander likes it best when Dad is around because Dad doesn’t get tired of slinging him around and playing “Up Down” five hundred times in a row!
Xander has also hit the “I want to be just like daddy” milestone recently. He was able to sit still enough to get his hair cut like a big boy (with clippers!!) right before we left San Diego! He’s also starting to talk a lot more! Some of the things he says make me realize just how grown up he’s getting. At dinner the other night he was signing “more please” when he wanted another bite. Well I looked away to tell Paul something and Xander said, “I said please” just clear as anything!! It made me laugh but at the same time realize he’s not my little baby anymore, which I guess is a good thing since we’re another week closer to baby #2 getting here!
